Earnings Potential for Computer
Animation Degree Graduates
Occupational endeavors vary within the computer animation
field, where there is a bit of crossover for computer programmers
and graphic designers. Training and certification in various
technologies like Computer Aided Design (CAD), Flash animation,
and digital design provide further background. The more time
you can spend with experts and mentors in the field of animation
the better. As with most industries, the value of on-the-job
training is immense and whatever experience you can bring
to the table will increase your opportunities.
The average salary we seem to find within the field is roughly
$65,000 annually, although this figure will fluctuate based
on many factors including location, experience, and overall
size of the company. On the low end of the data, an entry
level employee in a smaller company with no experience might
expect to earn roughly $40,000 annually, while a more experience
candidate within a large company may approach or exceed the
six figure mark for annual salary earned. The bottom line
is that graduates with a degree in computer animation hold
an edge over potential employment candidates with a similar
Bachelor of Science Degree, or no degree.
You may choose to work for a smaller boutique agency upon
graduation, or move into one of the large animation icon studios
like Disney, Pixar Studios, Dreamworks Animation, Warner Bros.,
or Blur Studio. The sky is the limit!
