Political
Science Degrees can lead to a wide variety of career pathways. The
majority of undergraduate Poly Sci majors seem to gravitate towards
a graduate degree, continuing their education with a Masters or
Ph.D. Political Science Degree. Although this is not a necessary
step to beginning a career in the field, many graduates plan to
pursue advanced degrees before they begin their freshman year. Earning
a degree in political science opens the doors to an almost limitless
career path, and the distance-learning platform allows busy professionals
the opportunity to learn within a schedule that fits that busy lifestyle.
Political scientists study the origin, development, and operation
of political systems and public policy. They conduct research on
a wide range of subjects, such as relations between countries, the
politics of small towns or major metropolises, and the institutions
and political life of nations. Studying topics such as public opinion,
political decision-making, ideology, and public policy, they analyze
the structure and operation of governments, as well as various political
entities. Depending on the topic, a political scientist might conduct
a public-opinion survey, analyze election results or public documents,
or interview public officials, just to mention a small portion of
activities a political science major can perform.
Optional Careers & Pathways
for Political Science Degree Graduates
A bachelor's degree in political science can lead to exciting
careers in federal, state and local governments; law; business;
international organizations; nonprofit associations and organizations;
campaign management and polling; journalism; pre-collegiate
education; electoral politics; research and university and
college teaching. Political science majors gain analytical
skills, administrative competence and communication abilities
that are valued in a wide spectrum of potential career areas.
Graduate level political science degrees provide additional
skills for executive/officer level administration careers,
and university professors.

it is difficult for us to provide a clear earning potential
