The
field of accounting is subject to various rules and regulations
on proper educational background and training, which is why many
of the programs offered for accounting certification tend to follow
a general degree in accounting. Depending upon your chosen profession
in accounting, you may need additional educational training beyond
your degree in accounting. With the ability to earn undergraduate
degrees in accounting at the associate or bachelor level, and graduate
programs diving deeper into the field of accounting, certification
programs tend to focus on one individual aspect of this broad industry.
In the United States, legally practicing accountants are considered
Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), and other non-statutory accountants
are Certified Internal Auditors (CIAs), Certified Management Accountants
(CMAs) and Accredited Business Accountants (ABAs). The difference
between these certifications is primarily the legal status and the
types of services provided, although individuals may earn more than
one certification in an effort to practice within more than one
area of expertise. Additionally, uncertified individuals, who may
be working under the supervision of a certified accountant, perform
much accounting work. Specialized accounting certification programs
allow individuals to work within the defined parameters of the governing
body, thus performing the job duties required by persons and businesses
in need of financial accountancy. Let's face it, most people are
not just going to hand over their company books to someone with
no educational background, or proper certification to manage their
financial assets. If you would like more information from our educational
partners regarding any of their accounting programs, please don't

schools. You may also be interested in Universities offering online

According to a salary survey conducted
by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, bachelor's
degree candidates in accounting received starting offers averaging
$46,718 a year in 2006; master's degree candidates in accounting
were offered $49,277 initially. According to a 2007 salary survey
conducted by Robert Half International, a staffing services
firm specializing in accounting and finance, general accountants
and internal auditors with up to 1 year of experience earned
between $31,500 and $48,250 a year. Those with 1 to 3 years
of experience earned between $36,000 and $60,000. Senior accountants
and auditors earned between $43,250 and $79,250, managers between
$51,250 and $101,500, and directors of accounting and internal
auditing between $68,000 and $208,000. The variation in salaries
reflects differences in size of firm, location, level of education,
and professional credentials.
