The Academy of Art University prepares aspiring artists and designers for careers in the fields of art and design by delivering excellent undergraduate and professional degree and certificate programs.

• enlists a dedicated and capable full-time and part-time faculty of career artists, designers and scholars who are professionals and whose success as educators comes from their ability to teach students through the wisdom and skill they have amassed through years of experience and study;
• operates in an urban context so that academic programs can draw upon and contribute to the cultural wealth of those communities that are served;
• provides a creative environment that is at once supportive and challenging and underpinned by excellent personalized teaching and support services that address the needs of students of diverse ages and backgrounds;
• provides an undergraduate general education program designed to stimulate development of critical thinking, articulation and communication skills, and appreciation of contemporary cultural issues;
• manages in an ethical and efficient manner, administers the finances in a prudent fashion, and returns value to the shareholders;
• fosters optimum quality in all aspects of programs and services.

The Academy of Art University provides online classes for students pursuing full-time or part-time education in one of our 11 online programs. To top it off, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) accredits all online programs. All you need to begin is a computer and a desire to put your best foot forward. You can now complete a degree online; full-time or part-time, whenever and wherever it is convenient to you. You can also complete an Online Award of Completion program for personal enrichment, with the option of taking Academy of Art University classes in person or via the web.

Accreditation for Online Programs
Online degree programs at the Academy of Art University are accredited. All online Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, and Master of Fine Arts (excluding Architecture) programs are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). The BFA in Interior Architecture and Design program delivered online is not currently accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (formerly FIDER). However, ACICS has approved the online BFA program in Interior Architecture and Design at the Academy of Art University, which offers the same curriculum as the Council for Interior Design Accreditation approved on-campus program.
