attracts students from around the globe including Asia, the
Pacific Rim, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, as well
as North, Central, and South America.

Aspen University's programs focus on relevant information,
its strategic uses, and effective management. Aspen's goal
is to help adult learners advance their careers and enrich
their lives without the sacrifices normally associated with
going back to school. Now, through telecommunications technology,
courses can be delivered directly to the student's place of
work, home, or location while traveling. We believe Aspen
University's learner-centered instruction offers great opportunities
to gain lasting and significant changes from the learning
experience. We believe distance learning methods can be a
highly effective way to deliver learner-centered education.
By reaching the learner in his or her real world, and real
work environment, distance learning programs enhance the way
individuals learn best: through experience, reflection, implementation
and experiment. By stepping out of the known environment of
classroom-centered instruction, Aspen University's distance
learning programs consider what needs to be gained or changed
through the learning process. Aspen's award-winning programs
provide its graduates with a competitive advantage to excel
in the challenging marketplace of today and tomorrow.
The Aspen University
History
Aspen University's roots go back over 40 years - when most
people didn't even realize the world was entering the information
age.
Aspen University grew from the International Academy created
in the 1960s to improve the way information was disseminated.
During the next two decades the academy distinguished itself
as an exceptional provider of premium education in information
management. In 1982, the academy established the Information
Institute to help people adapt to and make full use of all
the emerging information technologies. The institute became
keenly focused on meeting the needs of the workforce, sponsoring
conferences and conducting extensive research to broaden the
world's understanding of information-related topics such as
appropriate uses and effective management of information.
Much of the institute's research landed into two books: Education
for Information Management (1983, E.H. Boehm and M.K. Buckland,
eds.) and Intellectual Foundations for Information Professionals
(1987, H. Achleitner, ed.) These two books uncovered an emerging
market for education that would lead to the birth of ISIM
University. That market was formed with the alliance of technology
and business. Information systems professionals and business
managers were becoming inseparable partners in a burgeoning
economy based primarily on information. It became apparent
that those who understood the management of business and information
and related technologies would solidify their place in the
21st century's workforce. In 2003 ISIM University changed
its name to Aspen University.

We now offer programs in information and technology management,
information systems, business, project management, criminal
justice and nursing. Aspen University has, and will continue
to make key strategic moves that allow it to refine its educational
services and keep pace with industry changes.
